BIAB, or Band In A Box rough demo

BIAB, or Band In A Box is a terrific songwriting tool for creating a songwriter rough demo. Here's how I do it.

When I have my new song entered in Band In A Box as I want it I usually strip it down to drums and bass, play it through my monitors and record it into my recorder.

You can also save it and import the song into music recording software like PowerTracks and add vocals or other instruments as you wish.

Its a great tool for just playing with your song to see what it will sound like fully filled out with various arrangements and instruments.

I get all my demos done by demo companies so don't want all the canned music the styles provide when I'm producing a rough demo.

I want to give the demo company room to fill in the music. If you don't want this, use the other tracks and direct the demo company as you wish.

I end up with a new song with all the settings I want and with the structure and timing nailed.

The other beauty of Band In A Box is the song just loops so once it's set up it'll just keep playing. You can sing and play along and make changes as you wish.

This is a wonderful way to try your lyrics out and customize them to perfectly fit the music you have created with Band In A Box. It also acts as your perfect band so you can practice singing the vocals until you have everything nailed down.
