CCMA - Canadian Country Music Association is the country music association for Canada. It provides membership services and an award ceremony each year.
It’s a non-profit organization with the purpose of working for the betterment of the Canadian country music industry.
It does this by protecting its heritage, advocating for its development and seeking the favorable enactment of laws in Canada and internationally.
It was formed in 1976 and has committed to the growth of the Canadian country music industry through education, communication, information, promotion and recognition.
As a result of earlier work, in 1991 the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame was formed and inducts artists, songwriters, broadcasters and "industry builders" for their contributions to country music.
Each year it sponsors Country Music Week to provide its members professional development and showcasing for Canadian country artists.
In 1982 the Association inaugurated its very own Canadian Country Music Awards which were first broadcast coast to coast by in 1987 and are broadcast each year.
It has four levels of membership - for fans, associates, corporate and industry. Corporate members receive voting rights in the awards.
