It's simple
by: Doc Haley

If you have written a set of lyrics then title it and make it simple on yourself and copyright it through the ECO of the gov's website. Costs $35.

If you have not written it yet and this person is as you call "famous" and not "infamous" then they should not have any problem signing an agreement.

If they are simply going to put a melody to your lyrics, again, copyright it before showing anything to anyone (it's simple, i have hundreds copyrighted) and let them do their part.

Never, Never, Never give up any portion of your songwriters ownership. If they have a publishing company then the publishing company and the artist will make their money outside of your earnings.

Become an ASCAP member, register your title with them, and they will track your work, collect your revenue for you and send it to you quarterly and not charge you a penny for doing so. They are GREAT!
