Compose Song For Women
Compose songs for women when writing songs and learning how to write music. Learn what songwriters and singer songwriting needs to create hits. Your composition needs to consider women as its audience. When you write your song you need to think consider exactly who your audience is and who buys most music. The answer is, its more important to tailer your song women than men. Thats what the research shows. This means you should make sure you structure the lyrics of your song so it reaches out to woman. Sure men listen to songs but it seems women buy more of the music or influence men on what to buy. Ralph Murphy makes this point very strongly.
It amounts to this. There are different times of the day that people are interested in your songs. For example a song that plays well to the crowds in the evening or in the bar doesn't necessarily mean it will work on radio. Different audience and mood. The music industry is driven by radio so almost all songs must be seen to have the chance of success on radio before record companies will want to invest in them. They put out their money and want the best chance of having a hit. Sad but true, there's no way around it. As a songwriter you need to compose songs to this if you want commercial success. But all is not lost, there are ways of writing songs with women in mind. You just have to be aware of this and focus your songs. At the very least you should not put women offside when they hear your song. Better still, your song should invite them in so they are emotionally hooked and can identify with what you are presenting them.
Women and men respond to songs differently and will hear what you are saying differently. Don't assume because a man will get your point that a women will. The opposite is also true. Again its the women you should pay most attention to. Typically your audience can be described as a woman between 25 - 40 driving to work worrying about the kids, money, aggressive drivers and all the other problems in her life. Its a lot to distract her from your song. If your song doesn't grab hold of her through all of that it won't be a hit. For the entire three minutes your song has to lift her out of all that and provide her a meaningful emotional experience. This is no small task. Don't say anything, no matter how small that will put her offside. Think about her, and speak directly to her when you are writing and often it can amount to using the word "you". Ask yourself what she will think when she hears your song. You will help yourself and your song when you compose songs with that in mind. Another important point is to invite your listeners into your song.
