Dear Family - Country-lyric

by Charlie
(alabama)

Dear Family lyric

I wrote this after spending time with my father in law who was dieing of cancer. I have known this man for 30+ years and he was One of the greatest men i have ever known.This Lyric is what i think he would say to his family if he could speak to them today.

Dear Family,
The doctor had bad news;
And I know, that He can't tell me, what to do?
But if my time is running out,
And what he said is true.
I want to spend every minute that I have left with you.
I've had a real good life; With my best friend and wife.
I know that she would say the same, I have no doubt.
We've raised, four good kids, now that they are all grown.
It makes me proud that they each have a good life of their own.

So I'll see you, over on the other side.
Tell Johnnie, that I'll wait for her like I've done all our life.
Me and the Good Lord, are gonna have some time to talk.
We might even have a chance, to take a walk.
Don't feel bad for me, thank you for, everything you tried.
So I'll just wait, beyond that gate over on the other side.

I'm sorry;
Some things are too hard for me to say.
I don't know why, The Good Lord made me that way.
I have lived a real good life
And I have no regrets.
make the most of each day you have.
This is the only chance you will get.
When it's over, and my struggle here is through.
Remember me the way I used to be,
I'll be a waiting there for you

I'll see you, over on the other side.
Tell Johnnie, that I'll wait for her just like I've done all our life.
Me and the Good Lord, are gonna have some time to talk.
We might even have a chance, to take a walk.
Don't feel bad for me, thank you for, everything you tried.
So I'll just wait, beyond that gate over on the other side.
