Free Songwriting Software
Free songwriting software is what many people are looking for. This is what I have found for free songwriter software. There are not many songwriting software programs available let alone free ones. Get 50 FREE MP3s from eMusic The one I know of is VersePerfect developed by Bryant McGill. The download is combined with the McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme. As I understand it both products were developed by Bryant. The logo you see is for the new unreleased Version 2.0. The other ones I have found are the demo versions of MasterWriter and Lyricist. At MasterWriter you can download the full version of the program for a free 30-DAY trial with no obligation. Go to my page for a discount number to recieve a $70 discount then download the demo. That way you will get a 25% discount on the price if you decide to purchase it. (You do need a high-speed internet access connection).
However if you don't have the fast connection for the download MasterWriter will ship you a copy by regular mail. The catch is they charge $9.95 shipping and handling charge by regular mail. The good news is if you decide to buy the $9.95 you paid will be deducted from the purchase you pay for MasterWriter.) I've watched several demos of MasterWriter at TAXI songwriting conventions and was very impressed by it. I was also very impressed by Barry DeVorzon's presentations of the software. He's a world class award winning songwriter who designed this software for songwriters. Here's an account of Barry's story. He's been nominated for an Oscer and a Grammy (both for Bless the Beasts and Children) and won a Daytime Emmy six times. Even then I was still a little shy of the price so when I got home I downloaded the demo version. Well that month convinced me it was worth every penny of it.
Not only was I blown away by how functional it was, the special features still are the best out there. You can't go wrong with the free songwriting software demo. Again go here for discount number and download the MasterWriter demo. The other route you can take is a similar one with Lyricist, Clink on the banner below to go to their site. Lyricist has a much lower price and a lot of features to use. They used to have a free demo but now they have a money back guarantee so as I understand it you can return the software after a month if you don't like it and get a full refund. Lyricist has a lot of good features that help a you as songwriter. I like the inserting chord diagrams feature. It also has a good windows type interface button menu. I also have a copy of Lyricist that I use occasionally, especially for the chord diagrams and Nashville numbers system. One other thing software does is allows you to save all your versions of your song in a folder. This helps you be a lot more organized and you can easily go back to see how your song idea has progressed. When I switched from free songwriting software and paid for songwriting software I never regretted it.
