If I did not register a song with the U.S. Copyright Office yet, but have made it public, do the following can help me in court if I think someone stole my song
If I did not register a song with the U.S. Copyright Office
1. If I emailed my song to myself or someone else
2. If I posted a song or small clip on Myspace.com,
3. If I tweeted to specific people directly on Twitter to go hear my song, or posted a generic tweet linking people to my Myspace, where my songs are in.
4. If I linked people on Facebook in my Facebook status to listen to my song on Myspace, where my songs are in
5. If the songs are on my Itunes
6. If the songs originated on my laptop.
7. If I received emails and replies acknowledging my songs and critiquing them.
Reason I ask is because all of the above have time stamps; meaning, there are dates attached to all the transactions. Songs originate on my laptop, there is proof in my hard drive of when it was created.
I WILL register with the U.S. Copyright Office, but I want to know if, in the meantime, the six items I mentioned above can help me in court, should it lead to that.
