Great Song
by: Chad

What more can I say, the people have spoken. This is a great piece of songwriting, hidden talent that needs to be discovered. This is one song with perhaps the most positive comments so far. Perhaps this website can forward this song to a music publisher. Paul, please post more and keep writing, Good luck!!

Blues song
by: Ricky

Hiya,

I am a blues musician, played this (chords structure) and it definitely sounds bluesy rock. Reminds me of Gary Moore, BB King, Ray Charles. Any publishers out there should call Paul up and perhaps get a cd/tape recording or lead sheet. Paul, please expect my email.

Interesting Song
by: Reg

Hi, congrats for these lyrics. I am a pro-musician and I tried hitting the cords and words on my keyboard and it does seem like a great ballad. Perhaps Paul should have a pro demo done to this song. I have an inkling this could be a great song.
Keep writing !!

Lady That I Love - A catchy song
by: Okie of Muskogee

Based on the lyrics and cords, this song sounds like a jazzy/blues fusion. Reminds me of something Eagles pair Don Henley and Glen Frey did, sometime back. The Santa Monica CA beach scene is well presented, perhaps at bit more on this would be good.
Isn't this the same Paul Geno who is starting to make waves in Nashville TN ??? Perhaps someone in Nashville might throw some light!.
Keep writing Paul, all the best.

Cheers,

Okie from Muskogee

Congrat's
by: Doc Haley

Well someone finally took the time to put some chords to their lyrics! Congrats. It means a lot to the reader/listener believe me.

You wrote:

Am7 Dm7
The Californian sun keeps burning down on me
Am7 Dm7
The Santa Monica beach is all I can see
Am7 Dm7
On the waves I see surfers coming in
Am7 Dm7
I’m walking hand in hand with my beauty queen
Am7 Dm7
Everybody’s staring and I feel so cool

The was used twice as line starters, sounds incorrect.
See was used twice in two adjacent lines, hard to ignore when you read it.
Even though you feel cool in the lyrics, don't say it, it is more of an adolescence statement.
5 lines in the verse makes it hard to round off IMHO.

This is just a simple re-write/suggestion, not a criticism, so don't take it that way, of how you could change it up:

The California sun ........ warms my face
With the Santa Monica beach beneath my feet
Holding her hand in mine as the surfers ride the
waves
This is the way .... it ought to be.

Now if you will set up a metronome and play your chords as you have laid them out, keeping the same beats per measure throughout your original lyrics and then to these I have written, you may find how the words flow smoother.

And remember, there are at times when a line has a pause in it (......) or when you'll have to start a line before the chord change, but that's ok, it's how you fit words in and keep the lines balanced enough to sing.

Good job, need more offerings with some sort of melody.
