Here’s the trick. Everyone gets stuck on a lyric or line in a song and it seems you can't find a way to make it work. Object writing provides a perfect way do some creative brainstorming to stretch your ideas. Just set your song aside and do a 10 minute object writing exercise.

The technique is to do the object writing starting with the specific thing you are stuck on. Use that as you topic for the exercise. Just write and follow you're thoughts to any topic as your writing and don't worry about being stuck in your song.

When you're done read it through and look at the images and word combinations you've come up with. Usually there is something interesting that you can use in the song. It might be specific to you lyric problem or an alternate way of looking at it.
