Online Songwriting
Here are great online songwriting courses as they are great way to stay current with new ideas and meeting that ever present challenge of moving forward with your knowledge levels in whatever kind of musical interest you have. We all grow and learn at different rates and have very different needs in our musical education. Whether its honing our classical songwriting tools and techniques or just staying current with the styles of music we each work in. I always find that adding new exciting things is a way to keep my attitude and ideas fresh. Having fun writing songs is a goal of mine and it can make the hard work seem welcome. Trick is, where can we go online to find the kind of courses we want and would benefit each of us in a price and effort range we can handle. There are lots of resources out there, and we each have different needs. Here are a few I suggest you check out.
If you want to write songs online instead of having software on you computer theres a new site called Lilac Writer. It has everything online to organize and help you write lyrics. It also is set up as an online collaboration tool. If you have a group of friends that you want to write songs interactively, this is a great resource. If you want to learn songwriting and take courses there are some very good places to start. The ultimate probably is Berklee Music Online. It has more than 130 online music courses and programs. I've taken some of the courses. It's part of the Berklee College of Music in Boston so the courses are top rate but they are expensive and require hard work.
If you want to study contemporary composing and arranging there is an excellent site called The Writing Musican. Clive Cochburn has put together an online video musical education site that's designed for anyone from beginners to experienced musicians. If you work through the subjects and clips in the order they are in and do all the exercises, assignments and take the suggestions, you will have gained yourself a very solid musical foundation! Another great online songwriting site is Song U. Its run by Danny Arena and Sara Light and it gives you different levels of courses on song writing that are developed by great songwriters. SongU provides coaching, song feedback, mentoring and pitching opportunities that may be just right for you. It has a low monthly fee of 25.95 per month or $75 per quarter. Its a bargain.
Another terrific online music (and other) related source of courses is Mac ProVideo. You can purchase the courses and download them or you can pay a monthly fee. I'm just learning Logic Pro so I signed up for a a low cost monthly account. It gives me access to all the courses it offers on: Ableton Live, Acrobat, Aperture, Apple Color, Compressor, Cubase, Dreamweaver, DVDStudio Pro, Encore DVD, Final Cut Pro, Flash, iLife, Illustrator, InDesign, iWork, Lightroom, Logic Pro & Express, Mac OS X, MainStage, Microsoft Office, Motion, N.E.D. & N.E.D.i, Native Instruments, Omnisphere, Photoshop, Premiere, Pro Tools, Propellerhead, Reason, Redmatica Keymap, Sibelius, Soundbooth, Soundtrack Pro and Switcher's Guides. There are also lots of other online songwriting sites that will sell your PDFs to download.
