I went for two years: 2006 and 2007. Here's what I found: It reminds you that to write good songs you have to find the inspiration in the deepest part of yourself. No matter what type of songs you write, this experience reminds you that it is about coming clean with yourself, connection and learning the craft. The teachers are not just competent, they are inspirational because they know and can teach the fundamentals but they also are wise on the human side. Since most of them are published pro's, you will get authoritative evaluation from the commercial side but for me it was about the heart. The other writers in attendance are striving as well and you can't help but be touched by their journeys. I was humbled and grateful for the experience.
