Understanding and using rhyme is essential to songwriting. There are many online versions. Some can be downloaded and portable. Some are free. While some are better than others, any rhymer is better than not having one.

There are two types of dictionaries, standard and designer rhyming. They use different systems to find the words and sounds you need.

The designer rhyming dictionaries ones are better for songwriting. However, in a pinch I use a standard one. Here's how the standard and designer rhyming dictionaries work. Take a look at both and see which kind works best for you.

There actually is a third kind and its rhyming software or an online rhyme dictionary.

I like Rhyme Genie the best of all that I've found to date.

Songwriting software like MasterWriter is particularly great because it has one that's integrated into your song. You can also store words for use later. I use MasterWriter partly because of this.

An online version is the Rhymezone rhyming dictionary. A free one available for download is Analogx. A good book to purchase is the New Comprehensive American. If you're interested, here is a hip hop dictionary and an Urban Dictionary and section on slang.

Would you like to purchase male or female T-Shirts and other items from my web store? There are a wide variety of well priced products for you to chose from. They all have GreatSongWriting.com logos so you can wear great clothes and help promote GreatSongWriting.com.
