Situation/question about writing for a movie/musical? Help please

I wrote songs for a movie/musical similar to Moulin Rouge. Any how I was hired on by the producer and initially he said songwriters would get a small fee up front and we would make all the money on the backend. Granting the songwriters would own publishing rights.

Now he has come back and said he was signed as partner and no longer garanteed 10% music producer cut. The director wants to sell the movie to a big tv studio, and we are not getting any money on the backend. But the writers would make money on the soundtrack. He said the director wants a licensing fee to take the film to the film festival, and a big tv studio is already interested. I made a first offer and 2nd at $2500.00 lic fee and the fee to scale up once the movie sells, plus any royalties. He declined, and between getting several different stories one after the other. He came back and said the director is only giving him $5000 to pay his people meaning no money for him and its 10 of us. He also said he was planning to come back and pay us out his pocket once the movie sold to a large tv studio. When I asked him if there were a step deal in place he said no.... This can't be true.... Now, he says our splits for the soundtrack depend on what the director does.
What fees should I expect out of this? Also, of he changes the lyrics I wrote do I still on a protion of the song? I have a lawyer working on this, but I also want to be aware of anything I haven't already researched. Can anyone help?

I co-wrote and did majority voice overs for the music that plays in the beginning credits. (Waiting on this split sheet b/c it depends on what the director does).

I also wrote a song in which one of the actress will sing in the movie. ( I have 50/50 split sheet on it).
