Song Writing Tip - Keep a Journal
A song writing tip that is very helpful is the use of a writing journal. This songwriting tip should be considered one of the important songwriter tips. Believe it or not is makes a big difference even thought it seems like a small thing. As a songwriter the scene of little scraps of paper with parts of songs on them scattered everywhere is probably familiar to you. A songwriting journal definitely will help organize your efforts and will makes you much more efficient. You at least should invest in a journal to keep your songwriting gems, ideas, titles and notes in. At some point you'll decide if you're going to make the software commitment to your songwriting. In the meantime get and use a journal.
If you have songwriting friends and you don't know what to get them for a gift. Try giving them a special journal. They'll love it and you will be doing them a favor as well. Here is a site called Life Journal I found that sells a software package of a writers journal. Its costs $49 and they have free trial download. Its not specific to songwriting but try it out and see if it helps. You can go the route of songwriting software to organize your self. In the perfect world you should do both. I also went the route of songwriting in Microsoft Word but it just doesn't have the features you need to keep your self organized. However you can combine it with an rhymer and thesaurus or print versions. It will definitely work, but it's more work. There is a beauty to this song writing tip as a Journal is like a diary and your best friend. Hit songwriter Jason Blume says he has a section in his journal for new ideas called "future Hits". Why not shoot for a great song?
