Most of us have these song memory ties. The song has somehow plugged into our emotional events history and paired up with it. This is a very significant point about songwriting.

You must find a way to tie a know between your song and an emotion or feeling in the listener. Songs are about communicating something to others. Making them feel and see images that are new, fresh, touching and exciting. Its the WOW factor that people love.

It can be the beat of your song, the melody, the lyrics, the imagery, etc that make the connection. But there must be a connection or you will lose the listener. Its much easier to change the channel on the radio of CD player than most songwriters would like to admit.

A song is a very short form of communication that absolutely needs to hold the listener spell bound from start to end. Not only that, the images and music you create links the song to the listener. The spell can be easily broken if everything in the song writing isn't consistent and focused.

You magical spell can lead to a nightmare, or at least to a confused state if the listener gets sidetracked while listening to your song. Listeners have many distractions in their lives. Your song has to be a temple in its own right, it must stand on its own.

Keeping a song this focused is not an easy job. There are literally hundreds of little things in your song that all have to be working together. Pulling the listener on an emotional journey that they won't want to forget and in fact will want to live again. That is, play your song again.
